Tasmanian Liberals Fumble Social Media, Rockliff Orders “Derogatory Content” Removed
The Tasmanian Liberals have been accused of “playing politics” and not focusing more on community issues according to Labor. The original post on social media showed two female Labor MPs at the recent Taste of Summer festival.
The original captions of the post include:
“When you’re tanked at the Taste and someone suggests sexually rating your colleagues”

Before being deleted the post was distributed to Facebook and X, with the post then being reposted by the Government run “@Rockliffteammedia” account.
The image depicted federal Labor MP Rebecca White and MLC Sarah Lovell, who were unaware of the photo being taken.
It has been confirmed that the Premier has overruled the liberal media team, ordering the removal of the post.
It is understood that the publication was not made by employees from the Department of Premier and Cabinet. The Premier has decided not to comment further on the matter.
the post follows a wave of criticism from the party and Liberal ministers, which was drawn from an initial complaint made by a Liberal member.
Labor has responded to the event, claiming that “the Government should be focusing on governing Tasmania and the challenges we face”.
This follows a wave of criticism surrounding DPAC and party media teams, with previous investigations into advertising practices first published by the Tasmanian Times highlighting concerns. In addition, criticism was raised that media employment for DPAC alone costs the state $4m a year, initially reported by Signal News, then followed by Luke Edmunds MLC.
The government has initiated it’s second 100 day plan, one point includes “the centralization and improvement of all media units to increase efficiency”, potentially addressing issues they have faced.
